MAX - Lynn Raye Harris

Former Navy SEAL Max Brannigan is a loner with a strong protective streak and an ocean of survivor’s guilt that drives him to take risks no sane man would take. When he gets the news his billionaire father died and left him a horse farm in Kentucky, he’s busy protecting American military contractors in a war zone. The first moment he’s able, he’ll fly back to the US and dispose of the farm. What does a man like him need horses for anyway? Of all the things his father could have left him, this certainly ranks up there as the most bizarre.

Elinor Applegate lives for her horses, but life on the farm isn’t easy. Once-thriving Applegate Farm has fallen on hard times in the past few years. Only an influx of cash from her mother’s old friend enabled Ellie to keep the family operation going. All her hopes to turn around the business and buy back the land lie on the hooves of a colt destined to greatness. She’s just got to get him there first.

But when sexy, ruthless, infuriating Max Brannigan shows up, Ellie realizes her troubles are far worse than she thought. He knows nothing about horses—and he cares less than nothing about her dreams. To Max, the horses are useless and have to go—in spite of the fact that every encounter with Ellie only makes him want to drag her into his arms and kiss the fire right out of her. But Ellie will fight hard to keep her dreams alive, even if she has to fight dirty. Max has spent most of his life protecting people from danger—but can he protect himself when Ellie launches a full-scale assault against the walls surrounding his heart?

“You don’t know a thing about me, Miss Applegate,” he said coolly. “Not a goddamn thing. And I don’t know a thing about you, but I’m not blind. You have nothing more than some fancy prancing horses here, and while I don’t know much about horses, I’m pretty sure those can’t bring in much money. Not like racehorses. I suggest you cut your losses while you can and find a smaller place where you can keep a couple of animals and continue doing whatever it is you do with them.”

“Whatever it is—” She shook her head as if to clear it. Then she stood, her entire body vibrating with anger. And, yeah, it was wrong of him, but there was something slightly exhilarating about her anger. Her eyes flashed fire and her chin quivered before she clamped down on her reaction. “You need to leave now, Mr. Brannigan. Get off my property and stay off. You can send your realtors and you can list my farm, but I’m not cooperating with any of it until I call my lawyer and find out exactly what you can and can’t do. I have a mortgage and I’m not in default—and I’m not accepting your word as the final authority just yet.”

Max towered over her as he rose from the couch. “First of all, it’s my property. Second, I’ve got some bad news for you, sweetheart,” he said, and her eyes narrowed. Whether it was the bad news or the sarcastic endearment causing it, he didn’t know. And he really didn’t care. “Or maybe it’s good news to you. I can’t sell this farm for a year from the date of my father’s death without your agreement—”

She sucked in a breath, and he knew she was surprised. But he kept going before she could respond.

“—But I also own this place. So long as I do, I’m not staying in a hotel.”

Outrage shone from her eyes. “You can’t stay here.”

He took a step toward her. She didn’t flinch or back down. He admired that about her. It fired his blood, made his heart beat faster. What was it about this woman that got beneath his skin? He didn’t know, but no way was he letting her win this round.

“Yes, I fucking can.”

BOOK REVIEW:- written by debut author Pragat Kasana
Published by PepperScript.
The book held me from the very first chapter and let me go on the very last line of the book. Characterization is done well,

The story revolves around the protagonist Hersh.
Other characters in the book are -Wolrez, Sancord, Oscorv , Melcon, Rower ,etc.
What i like about the book is that the author's writing style is unique ,different.
And in India not many authors attempt to write fantasy novels, they most write romance.

1) Fresh Intriguing Plot & Story.
2) Great Characterization.

It was a right blend of fantasy and reality .
It was a FANTASTIC read filled with wonder. In fact, it would practically be a dream-come-true for any movie buff or even a fantasy lover.

BOOK REVIEW: My Wife's Diary by Deepanshu saini

'Am I okay?' I asked myself again, for the hundredth time. 'I don't know,' I told myself again, for the hundredth time. I have never been so confused. For my entire life, I have taken decisions with a simple 'yes' or 'no': 'Do I want to go for engineering?' 'Yes'; 'Do I need to go for another job?' 'No'; 'Should I look for career in writing?'; 'Yes'; 'Do I love her?' 'Yes'; 'Should I smoke?' 'No'; 'Should I drink?' 'Yes' -my whole life has revolved around these two words. And the same words worked while making the most important decision of my life - my marriage. 'Should I go for love marriage?' 'Yes'. Why shouldn't I? After all, she is beautiful, fair and tall, with a shapely body, and with that tiny mole under her lower lip that most guys would be ready to die for. Overall, a trustworthy companion, a perfect daughter-in-law and an ambitious girl - what else does a guy want? But one year of marriage can prove you wrong. It can even give a shock perhaps. Just the thought that a girl in her mid-twenties can hold so many secrets, so many emotions, is actually astonishing. Few months ago, I would've never pictured things the way they are now. She once said to me: 'Love has nothing to do with the body. It speaks from the soul.' Well, she was absolutely correct. But I think, I was an Idiot as what she meant that day came into my wits now... I was uncomfortably aware of my conscience every time I faintly turned the page of her diary, and every time a feeling went through my nerves, like I was about to bite my own tongue. How had something so simple become so tangled and complicated suddenly? I still remember the first time I had met her. As much as I tried not to think about her, she kept flitting into my consciousness or into my line of sight. And I was clear that I wanted her. I want to formalize the relationship. How? I don't know. But yes, my sentiments were really honest. That's it. But now, it's something different.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The story revolves around the protagonist Pournima Apte, pursuing M.SC in psychology from punr University
and is written by Pournima in diary style form.
The diary was gifted to her by Abhimanyu her lover.
But she didnt felt like writing anything & it was placed in the almirah just like the other books.
The first time she wrote ,when Abhimanyu was not there with her on her birthday and she was missing him.

Abhimanyu and Pournima used to bunk classes, visiting new places, shopping ,walking hand in hand.
That meant a special space in her heart.

In between she was given a project by her professor to analyse the case .She  meet with a patient Raghav Kalra whose parents want him to marry ,but he is not interested in getting married.
This made Pournima think that he is gay and Raghav accepted that.

Later on Pournima broke with Abhimanyu . She had relation with Avantika .She always used to stay positive and enjoy life .She used to miss her Grandmother and the stories narrated by her - Once upon a time....there was a ...."

Some Quotes from the book :-
-Live your life as you want

-The greatest feeling in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

This is the first book in which the author had expressed everything so open mindedly and  whole heartedly .Taking a strong topic like homosexuality ,the story is well portrayed and the characterization is done well. All her friends was described well and specially the positive aspect - the positive way of living life even if how tough the situation comes in  life. The plot made me keep you guessing. The end is well written. A perfect book to give to your loved ones.

BOOK REVIEW: The Last Bloom by Poulomi Sengupta

"'The Last Bloom' is a story of Priya, her dreams, aspirations and struggles to fit into her new college life and its politics. Priya was ecstatic, as she was admitted to her dream college. All her visions of adventurous rock climbing trips, long night jollification with bosom friends, class bunking in lieu of movie shows, tasting lip smacking street side delicacies with classmates-a new exciting world would now unfold before her! But college is different from Priya's idyllic dreams. In an environment as opposed to that of school, exposed to an educational system, which is controlled by political unions, will naive Priya be able to survive without any political protection? Caught between the college hero Suvo's charming words and her acrid tussles with conceited college dropout Vivek, will immature Priya be able to differentiate between cajoling false comrades and brutally honest well-wishers? Often degraded by the skittish Shweta and saved by the blunt rebellious Aashi, will Priya be able to identify her friends and stand up for them, against fierce opposition? As Priya undertakes her journey of self-discovery, will she succumb to her deepseated fears and insecurities or will she survive the ultimate test of time?"

Received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Way of Narration and writing was nice.
.PLOT - It wasn’t something you’ve never heard of or something you cannot guess.

The story revolves around the protagonist Priya, her dream was to become topper every year.
She want to become most popular girl in college.
After entering into the  college, she found the college environment totally different from the school . It took her time to adjust to it.
There was politics, ragging and unnecessary tantrum thrown by other girls.
She has to deal with many things.
Then there came Suvo, who is the college hero.
Love is the elixir that offers you a miraculous escape from the unpalatable reality;love gives no stress,no pain ,no fear.

Priya tried to stay away from the distractions and pay attention towards studies. She fall in love with the books.
Nothing made her happy than to have stack of books on the library table which gave her immense happiness and the ocean of knowledge.

The only thing which i felt was that the story is very much elongated, which made the book boring in between.

Book Cover - 4/5
Editing - 4/5
Blurb - 4/5
Book Quality (Typing, Word Setting, Fonts) - 4/5

Story - 4.5/5

What were the odds of meeting your future husband at Trader Joe’s?

Because that might’ve just happened. Seriously.

“Hi, I was wondering if....” Bella stammered to the cute guy she’d spotted checking out Brussel spouts.

Tall. Check.
Hot. Check.
Not texting. Check.
Blue eyes. Check.
Buys expensive food he’s probably never gonna eat. Check.

“If you were interested in....”

Don’t, don’t, don’t. She wasn’t going to make a fool of herself by approaching a random stranger, telling him that she found him sexy and giving him her number. Only desperate women did that.

Well, she was desperate. But still.

No, she needed to start a conversation. Flirt up a storm. Get him to ask for her number.

“...interested in telling me where you found those—” Scanning his cart, she named the first item she saw. “…carrots?”

“They’re right here,” he said, pointing to the heaps of carrots that were right under her nose.

Wow, that was embarrassing.

“Thanks.” Bella moistened her lips, hoping that would take his attention off her stupidity. “You know...I’m visually impaired sometimes.”

Wait...what was she saying? She wasn’t visually impaired. “I mean, I can see well most of the time, but I can’t see well sometimes.”

“Medical condition?” His voice was sympathetic.

Her nod was embarrassingly vigorous. “Right.”

“What’s it called?” Interest flickered in his gray eyes. “If you don’t mind telling me. I’m a doctor. An ophthalmologist. I’ve never heard of a condition like yours. I’m curious.”

Bella’s flirtatious grin slid right off her face. Of everything he could be, he had to be an ophthalmologist, didn’t he? Why was her luck so screwed?

“I don’t know what it’s you shopping by yourself?” she stammered, trying to divert him from her medical condition.

Diversion always worked.

He shrugged casually. “With my partner. He’s over there.”

His gaze darted to a man by the freezer. Equally handsome. Equally gay.

She should’ve seen that coming.

“Great.” Bella’s voice dropped faster than the price of stocks in a recession. “Nice talking to you.”

Turning on her heel, she almost raced down the aisle, not even stopping for Cookie Butter, which she knew she needed to get. Her lip jutted out as she closed her eyes, and her inner critic started nagging her. She was such an idiot sometimes.

Not paying attention, she stopped when she bumped into something hard.

A shoulder. Someone’s shoulder. Before she could blink, he said, “I’m sorry.”

The clearest pair of blue eyes she’d ever encountered appraised her, and she tumbled back, involuntarily.
